TWO OF OUR VETERANS TAKE CENTRE STAGE ON MONDAY.

We have two declared runners at Catterick on Monday, where the going is currently described as good to firm, and they continue to water.

Myboymax who is seven years old (possibly not a veteran) is the winner of six races since arriving at the yard in the spring of 2021, which saw his mark leap from 48 to 76 in the space of 23 months. He was last in the winners enclosure in August at Catterick (see the picture below) from a 2lb lower mark than now, and has since run down the field in two hurdle races, giving him a decent looking mark of 90 for future reference. This will be his first start in 208 days, when he goes to post for the 0-70 handicap, over the extended one mile and seven furlongs, with Aiden Brookes, who has won on him on all of his six wins, back in the saddle.

Irv who at nine years old is definitely a qualified veteran, is the winner of five races, including twice at York as a three year old. He was entitled to need his first run back in four months when finishing down the field at Southwell 22 days ago, and comes into this 6lb below his last winning mark at Pontefract from last June. Whether he fully stays this trip is open to question, but many horses do need further as they get older. Irv runs at 4.17.pm, in the 0-55 handicap, over 12 furlongs, with Aiden Brookes, who has won on him twice previously retaining the ride.
