Onenightintown saw the racecourse for the 49th and final time at Market Rasen on Friday afternoon, when telling us in no uncertain terms that it was time for him to collect his well earned pension. He barely went a yard and was detached by the third fence, and if a horse is going to tell you he has had enough then this was the way to do it, with his jockey Alice Stevens pulling him up after jumping the sixth.
Onenightintown retires as the winner of three chases, he has also finished second four times, and third on a further six occasions. He began his career in Ireland pulling up in two points, and then finishing unplaced in three hurdles races, before running in four chases including a tilt at the Grade 3 Novices Chase at Galway in July 2020.
He joined us in October 2020 with a mark of 90, and showed his first form in June 2021 when finishing third at Market Rasen from a mark of 79 over fences. He won for the first time at that track in September 2022 under Becky Smith, and followed up under the same rider at Sedgefield in September, his other win was in the hands of Alice Stevens in in February 2024 at Catterick.
Onenightintown has given his owners 'The Rat Pack Racing Club' many memorable days out win or lose, and we will make sure he gets the best retirement possible.
