Kisumu will make his first visit to Kelso on Wednesday, when he will run in the two miles, and two furlongs handicap hurdle at 6.10.pm.
He got his season back underway two weeks ago at Sedgefield, when keeping on in to forth, beaten by two and a half lengths. That run complimented his previous effort back in March, when finishing runner up at Wetherby, over two miles. On both occasions our stable conditional Emma Smith-Chaston was in the saddle, and she will ride again.

The most famous racehorse to race in Britain, and never win a race in 103 attempts was Quixall Crossett. By those standards Kisumu is just a relative beginner, having raced, without winning, just the 45 times to date.
Kisumu is bred in the purple, by Juddmonte Farms, and initially running in the colours of Khaled Abdullah. His Dam Arum Lily won on both of her racecourse appearances, and produced seven offspring that raced, including Kisumu's full brother Redwood, who after winning the Grade 1 Northern Dancer Stakes at Woodbine in Canada, retired to stud, and became a successful stallion.
Kisumu started his racing career in the care of Sir Michael Stoute, he made his racecourse debut at Leicester in September 2014, when finishing second. He would race five times for that yard as a two, and three year old, never bettering that effort, and recording a best BHA mark of 73.
Micky picked up Kisumu at the Newmarket horses in training sale in the Autumn of 2015, and he made a solid start to his hurdles career at Wetherby in November when finishing third, beaten nine lengths in a maiden hurdle, under Sam Twiston-Davies.Three further hurdle races, saw him placed twice, and earning a mark of 112, before returning to the flat, where in August 2016 he came as close as he ever has done to winning a race, when going down by a head at Ripon, over two miles, with Franny Norton riding.
It would be a further nine races under both codes, until he was next placed, this time over jumps at Perth in July 2017, when finishing third, from a now reduced mark of 90. A further seven runs, and exactly one year later in the corresponding race back at Perth, he put up another of his best efforts, this time finishing third, under Becky Smith, from a mark of 82. In October 2018 his attentions were turned to chasing, and although he finished third, he was beaten 73 lengths, he had one more attempt over fences the following May at Hexham, but like many a well bred flat horse, he didn't take to chasing.
He has come close to breaking his duck twice since over hurdles,he finished second at Sedgefield, beaten under two lengths in August 2019, and on the day racing was brought to a halt on March 17th, at Wetherby, he ran all the way to the line under Emma Smith-Chaston, being beaten by only half a length, when running from 3lb out of the weights.
