A VISIT TO CARTMEL ON WEDNESDAY EVENING.

We send two to Cartmel, where the going is currently good, good to soft in places.

Celestial Reign who had shown ability on both his first two starts for us at Sedgefield, possibly improved on that when getting his head in front at that track 15 days ago, for which he will carry a 7lb penalty. Prior to joining us last autumn Celestial Reign had shown ability on the flat in Ireland when finishing second in a Sligo maiden around a year ago. Celestial Reign runs in the first at 5.40.pm, in the two miles and one furlong novices hurdle, with Brian Hughes taking the ride.

Rioja Alta who returns from a 10 weeks break, will get his ground when he goes to post for the 0-120 handicap hurdle at 6.40.pm, over two miles and six furlongs, with Brian Hughes retaining the ride. Rioja Alta hit form with vengeance on his penultimate start at Sedgefield in February, when winning in first time blinkers by a very easy seven lengths, form he backed up in March at Newcastle with a solid second from 9lb higher. Rioja Alta is proving consistent and should put up another good showing here from the same mark.
