We have three runners on Saturday, with one on the flat at Catterick, on what is currently described as good to firm ground, and two at the evening jumps meeting at Cartmel, on good, good to firm going.
At Catterick, Lillistar makes a return to the flat after three commendable efforts at Sedgefield over jumps in recent weeks. This has been a welcome return to form after several lacklustre efforts under both codes. If she can transfer her recent hurdles form on to the flat, then she will be a danger to all. Lillistar runs at 2.50.pm, in the 0-60 handicap, over the extended one mile and seven furlongs, with Aiden Brookes riding her for the first time.
At Cartmel, Donny's Fortune makes a quick return to the track, just three days after being hampered at the third fence at Hexham, and unseating his rider. Prior to that he had made a promising chase debut at Uttoxeter, when finishing a staying on fifth, only six and a half lengths off the winner. That run signified that Donny's Fortune could well be winning soon. He runs at 6.38.pm, in the 0-100 handicap chase, over the extended three miles and one furlong, with Robert Dunne retaining the ride.
Beat The Edge is the winner of two of his 36 starts under rules, but how many more would that have been had he responded generously when asked to go and win his race, but unfortunately when his jockey asks him to quicken, Beat The Edge becomes stubborn and put the breaks on. How does his jockey persuade him to put his best foot forward? I shall leave that up to Brian Hughes who retains the ride, when Beat The Edge goes to post for the 0-100 handicap chase, at 7.08.pm, over two miles and five furlongs.
