SCHIEHALLION MUNRO RETIRES.

Schiehallion Munro has run his final race. His connections have taken the difficult decision to retire him after his latest run on Boxing Day at Wetherby, where he ran his usual gallant race to finish fourth under the steadier of 12 stones-2lb in Class 3 company. Shiehallion Munro was not coming back fully sound after his recent races, as the wear and tear of age were beginning to take it's toll, so in order that he has a long and happy retirement, his owners have decided to draw stumps.

Shiehallion Munro retires as the winner of seven of his 23 starts, including five over fences, and two over hurdles, with a total prize money haul of £61,206. He retires as the current highest rated horse in the yard, having achieved a best BHA mark of 145, which was the mark he finished eighth off in the 'Craft Irish Whiskey Co. Plate,' at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival, he also achieved a best 'Racing Post Rating' of 148. His career best runs came on Boxing Day 2021, when winning a Class 3 handicap from a mark of 138, and then following up at the same venue in February 2022, when winning a Class 2 handicap off 142.
