TWO RUNNERS AT PONTEFRACT ON SUNDAY.

enquiries0700

We send two to Pontefract, where the going at the time of writing is good to firm, good in places.

Arranmore finally returned to somewhere near his best at Beverley 23 days ago, when finishing a very respectable fourth, with the winner going in again, and the third since going on to finish second. Although that race was a seller, it was well above average for the grade, so if Arranmore is in the same mood, he will be competitive. He runs at 2.42.pm, in the 0-70 handicap, over his favoured mile, with Aiden Brookes retaining the ride.

Piecederesistance will contest the 'Pontefract and District 0-78 handicap,' over 10 furlongs, for the third year in a row, at 3.42.pm, with Aiden Brookes taking the ride. He won the race in 2022 from 11lb higher than now, and was runner up last year from a 6lb higher mark. He was an excellent second on his seasonal reappearance at York in May, but on his return to the same track just over six weeks ago, he blew his chance when rearing up at the start. The hood he has worn on the last three occasions, has now been left off.
