MASTER GUSTAV

Ian Ender

MASTER GUSTAV. 23 June 2016. Mahler-Annaghbrack. Owner-Mrs B M Lofthouse.

Master Gustav is a fine prospect for the future, and with lots of luck could eventually develop in to a very useful chaser. He runs in the same yellow and blue colours of his illustrious stablemate Cornerstone Lad, in the ownership of Mrs Lofthouse. His sire 'Mahler' was runner up in the 2007 St Ledger, and also finished third in a Melbourne Cup, and is a proven source of high class National Hunt horses. His dam was no great shakes on the track, having raced down the field in three bumpers back in 2007-2008, but has been very successful as a brood mare. Master Gustav is her fifth representative to see the track, and while two of the mares produce had their careers cut short by injury, the other two are blessed with talent. The Gordon Elliott trained Miracle In Medina achieved a Racing Post Rating of 117, but it is 'Assemble,' the half brother by Getaway who catches the eye. Currently in training with Joseph O'Brien, he has already been placed in Grade 3 company over hurdles, and in a Grade 2 over fences, achieving a Racing Post Rating of 153, after just 11 runs.

Mater Gustav made his racecourse debut at Wetherby in a Bumper in March 2021, and made a very promising introduction when staying on well in to third place, earning an opening Racing Post Rating of 103. TO BE CONTINUED.
