We have four runners on Wednesday, with one on the flat at Catterick, where the going is currently good to firm, good in places, and we send three up to Hexham for the start of their new jumps season, on what is currently described as also good to firm, good in places ground.
At Catterick, Toby Two Scoops signified that there is a lot more to come when staying on well at that track over two furlongs shorter 22 days ago, for which he remains on the same mark. Toby Two Scoops is very lightly raced and this step up in trip should be a plus, we should see him over hurdles in due course. He runs at 3.45.pm, in the 0-60 handicap, over very nearly one mile and six furlongs, with Aiden Brookes back in the saddle, having missed out through injury last time.
At Hexham in the evening, Minella Dreams is first up at 5.15.pm, in the novices hurdle over two miles and four furlongs, where he will be partnered by Conor O'Farrell for the first time. To date Minella Dreams has run in a bumper at Market Rasen in July and a maiden hurdle 11 days ago at Perth, where a bad mistake three out put paid to any chance he had. He now sports a hood and first time tongue tie as he continues his education.
Nottodaybobo who was the winner of a chase at Kilbeggan for his previous yard back in 2023, has now raced on two occasions for us since arriving from Ireland. He made a very promising yard debut at Market Rasen in July when finishing third, but over an extra half mile at Uttoxeter 31 days ago he could never get involved, and he now steps back down in trip. Nottodaybobo runs at 5.45.pm, in the 0-110 handicap hurdle, over two miles, with Brian Hughes on board for the first time.
Wadacre Maisie is a four year old filly who will make her racecourse debut at 7.45.pm, in the bumper over two miles, with Henry Brooke booked to ride. Wadacre Maisie will be the fifth offspring of her once raced Dam to see the racecourse. Her Sire is the seven times Group 1 winner Highland Reel who raced between 2014-2017, whose wins include the Group 1 Prince of Wales's Stakes over 10 furlongs as a five year old in 2017.
Good luck to the connections, R M Howard, Jardine, Griffiths, Duffus, Tomlinson, Mrs Gemma Hogg, and Woodacre Stud.
Toby Two Scoops.
