We have four runners at Sedgefield on Tuesday evening, on what is their final meeting of the season, on what is currently described as good, good to firm going.
Celestial Reign kicks us off at 6.10.pm, in the maiden hurdle over the extended two miles and three furlongs, with Conor O'Farrell on board for the first time. Celestial Reign would have run to about the same level on both of his first two starts for us over hurdles which were both at Sedgefield, had he not been brought down on his debut. He now meets the second horse again from last time, when he was fourth, on very similar terms, and he should once again be involved at the finish.
Belle Na Bann was in fine form last year winning twice and finishing runner up twice, but it has been a different story on her last four starts concluding with pulling up at Perth last time. She will now make her debut over fences trom a good looking opening mark, and it is to be hoped that the larger obstacles reinvigorate her. Belle Na Bann runs at 6.40.pm, in the 0-100 handicap chase, over two miles, with Alice Stevens retaining the ride.
Lilistar backed up her previous third at Sedgefield when finishing an excellent second at that track 32 days ago, only going down to a well handicapped opponent who has again won since. She once again takes on that victor but now has a massive 19lb turn around for 16 lengths, and it might be enough. Lilistar runs at 7.10.pm, in the 0-105 mares only handicap hurdle, over the extended two miles and four furlongs, with Brian Hughes once again in the saddle.
Piecederesistance returns from his winter holiday at 7.40.pm, in the 0-100 handicap hurdle, over the extended two miles, with Brian Hughes, who has ridden on one previous occasion back in the saddle. Piecederesistance who has been an above average performer in his younger days on the flat, which includes finishing second at York's Dante meeting just a year ago, has shown enough in his seven starts over hurdles to suggest that a mark of 100 is well within his capabilities. He comes here fresh, and should have no ground concerns.
