FOSTER'SISLAND & SHIGHNESS DECLARED FOR AYR.

enquiries0700

We have two runners at Ayr on Monday, where the going is currently described as soft.

Foster'sisland is as honest as they come, and because of that he spends his life in the grip of the handicapper. At 10 years old he still retains his enthusiasm, and this race looks a little less competitive than what he has run in on recent starts. This will be his fifth visit to Ayr, where he is a dual winner, and he will run in the 0-135 handicap hurdle, at 2.52.pm, over the extended two miles and four furlongs, with Emma Smith-Chaston, who has won on him on four previous occasions, once again taking the mount.

Shighness is already the winner of a bumper, three hurdles races and a chase from just 20 starts, and she will have her second start of the season at 3.27.pm, in the 0-130 handicap chase, over three miles, with Brian Hughes, who has won on her on two previous occasions taking the ride. Shighness improved with experience in her first season over fences last term, winning at Cartterick in February, and putting up a personal best when finishing second at Wetherby from the same mark as now in March. Shighness made her seasonal debut at Carlisle seven weeks ago, and should show the benefit of that pipe opener here.
