WE TAKE IN MARKET RASEN & WETHERBY ON MONDAY.

We have a runner over the jumps, and two on the flat on Monday. Over the jumps at Market Rasen in the afternoon the going is currently described as good, and on the flat at Wetherby in the evening it is good to firm, good in places.

At Market Rasen, Not What It Seems returns from 316 days away when going to post for the 0-105 handicap chase, over two miles and five furlongs, with Brian Hughes on board for the first time. Back in December 2022 Not What It Seems had just made his handicap chase debut, finishing an excellent third at Wetherby, and earning a BHA mark of 123. Unfortunately on his next start at Lingfield in February 2024 he was badly injured and would not return for 10 months. In six subsequent starts he has failed to match those heady days, which has seen his mark slip to 100. It goes without saying that a return to anywhere near his best puts him firmly in the picture.

At Wetherby, the two year old Our Boy Harry has his third start at 6.00.pm, in the maiden stakes over the extended five furlong, with Aiden Brookes retaining the ride. Our Boy Harry was green on his debut at Hamilton in May when finishing sixth, and at Pontefract a week later he dwelt, and never managed to get competitive. These introductory runs will not be lost on him, and he will be eligible for a handicap mark after this.

Toby Two Scoops returns to begin his three year old career at 7.30.pm, in the three year olds only 0-65 handicap, over one mile and two furlongs, with with Aiden Brookes, who rode him on three of his four starts last term, taking the ride. Toby Two Scoops was unplaced in all three of his novice races, before making his nursery handicap debut, when finishing fourth at Pontefract, when last seen in October. He now steps up by two furlongs, from an opening mark of 56.
