A RARE VISIT TO YARMOUTH.

We have one runner on Thursday when Myboymax has his third start since joining us from the Richard Hannon yard. Myboymax goes to post at 3.45.pm, in a 0-52 handicap over 10 furlongs, with Aiden Brookes retaining the ride.

Myboymax started out for us at Nottingham in June, giving every indication his time was not far away, when finishing a running on fourth, beaten by four and a half lengths. He returned to Nottingham three weeks later, and probably ran to a similar level in better company, to finish a nine lengths third. He can now race from a 3lb lower mark in a lesser race, with the predicted good to firm going holding no terrors.

MYBOYMAX. 13 March 2018. Myboycharlie-Plebeya. Owner-Anthony Bithell.

Big things were probably expected of Myboymax when he was put in to training last year as a two year old with Richard Hannon. His dam is an unraced daughter of Dubawi, who has produced three other racecourse representatives to date, two of which recorded Racing Post ratings over 90. His sire is the lightly raced Group 1 winning sprinter Myboycharlie, who was equally effective up to seven furlongs.

Myboymax ran on eight occasions for the yard of Richard Hannon as a two year old, making his debut over seven furlongs in June 2020 at Lingfield, where he finished fourth beaten by four lengths, after weakening inside the final furlong. They must have had a quick rethink because when he reappeared 11 days later at Chepstow he had been dropped back to the minimum trip of five furlongs. It appeared to do the trick as he finished a keeping on two and a quarter lengths in to second place. His next start was three weeks later at Catterick, and a step back up to seven furlongs, but after making the running, he faded from the furlong pole to finish sixth. It was back to the all weather at Lingfield in August, staying at seven furlongs, but in probably the hottest company he had taken on so far proved too much, as he failed to get involved. Four days later at Newmarket he was dropped in to selling company over seven furlongs, and with Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle, he finished a two and three quarter lengths fourth, and he would have been closer if not for becoming unbalanced in the dip. He made his handicap debut at Chepstow in September from a mark of 61, but was never better than midfield when stepped back in trip to five furlongs again. Nine days later he ran at Wolverhampton over six furlongs, he made his effort from over one furlong out, but hung left under pressure, with the jockey reporting that the horse never travelled. His final start to date, was also at Wolverhampton two weeks later, when stepped up to the extended mile for the first time, but after being slowly away, he was always towards the rear.

Myboymax has been gelded, and has now had a nine month break. He definitely acts on a faster surface, but we will have to find out his preferred trip, but the good news is that the handicapper has given him a real chance, as he starts out for us from a mark of just 50.
