We have two declared runners on Wednesday, where the going at Thirsk is currently described as good, good to firm in places, and at Musselburgh where the going is also currently good, good to firm in places.
Toby Two Scoops is a two year old colt by Expert Eye, who will make his racecourse debut at 2.15.pm, at Thirsk, in the six furlongs novices stakes, where he will be partnered by David Egan, who is having his first ride for the yard. Toby Two Scoops is the fifth offspring of his Dam to see a racecourse, with all the other four having achieved best RPR of between 67 to 86, so let's hope he can follow in the family footsteps. The Dam was also a useful performer herself, achieving a best BHA mark of 74 from just six starts.
Our other runner is Odd Venture, who makes the trip up to Musselburgh to contest the 0-55 handicap, over the extended 12 furlongs at 3.00.pm, with his regular rider Aiden Broookes in the saddle. Odd Venture ran his best race for us over this course and distance nearly 12 months ago when easily winning a 0-50 Classified Stakes, so this race represents a slight step up in class. Odd Venture hasn't reproduced that good effort in any of his six starts since, but does have conditions in his favour here.
