We have three declared runners at Newcastle on Saturday, where the going is currently good, good to soft in places.
Penpal who can go well after a break, returned from a year off the track when winning at Newcastle in 2023, and he was last seen finishing second at Sedgefield seven months ago from 1lb lower than now. He steps back up in trip here, on ground that will hold no fears, when he goes to post for the 0-100 conditional jockeys handicap hurdle at 11.40.am, over two miles and four furlongs, with Emma Smith-Chaston taking the ride.
Carrigeen Castle was a dual winner last season which saw his mark climb from 94 to 118. He made his seasonal debut at Bangor 31 days ago when looking like the race was very much needed, so he will have benefited from that. He now steps up in trip to two miles and seven furlongs for the first under rules, when he tackles the 0-120 handicap chase at 1.22.pm, with Connor O'Farrell on board for the first time, in a race where none of his five rivals performed to their best when last seen.
Seeyainthesuninn has his third run in bumper company at 3.08.pm, over the extended two miles, where he will be partnered by Conor O'Farrell. Seeyainthesuninn last run at Sedgefield in October is worth putting a line through, as he slipped badly on the turn four out, prior to that he was only beaten eight and a half lengths on his debut back in May. Seeyainthesuninn has five winning half brothers and sisters, three of which are rated RPR 117 and above.
