You probably won't be surprised to find out that Fifthyshadesaresdev is a grey.He is by the first season sire Johnny Barnes, who is a son of Acclamation, who raced on 21 occasions for the John Gosden yard, recording a best BHA rating of 108, winning four times, including a handicap success at Goodwood in 2017 from a mark of 101, he was also placed second over a mile in Group 1 company at Saint-Cloud as a two year old. Fiftyshadesaresdev's dam is an unraced daughter of Tin Horse, who was the French 2000 Guineas winner of 2011, and Fiftyshadesaresdev will be her first produce to race.

Merlin's Gold is a son of Mastercraftsman the champion two year old of 2008, who went on to win the Irish Guineas, he recorded a best BHA rating of 127 when finishing runner up to Sea The Stars in the 2009 Juddmonte International Stakes at York, and since going to stud has become a proven source of high quality performers. Merlin's Gold's dam is the unraced Strumming, who is a daughter of Camelot, he is her first offspring.
