CARRIGEEN CASTLE TO RUN AT PERTH.

We have two declared runners on Wednesday, with Carrigeen Castle making his way up to Perth, where the going is currently described as soft, heavy in places, and we also have Stellarmasterpiece running at Catterick, where the ground is currently soft.

Carrigeen Castle has had a tremendous season, winning on three occasions, which has seen his mark climb from 94, to his current rating of 119. He was an easy winner at Wetherby on his penultimate start, but he couldn't get competitive at Carlisle last time, and was pulled up before two out. This race gives him an ideal opportunity to get back on track, on what will probably be his final race before his summer holidays. He runs at 2.20.pm, in the 0-130 novices handicap chase, over two miles and four furlongs, with the champion jockey Brian Hughes in the saddle.

The ex Polish Stellarmasterpiece will make her British, and stable debut at 3.47.pm, in the 0-65 handicap, over 12 furlongs, with Aiden Brookes taking the ride. Stellarmasterpiece is a four year old filly who has run on 11 occasions to date, all at the Sluzewiec racecourse in Poland, winning once, finishing second, and third on a further three occasions. I haven't a clue how the handicapper can give her an accurate rating, but an opening mark of 55 looks okay.
