In the 0-75 handicap over the extended mile Gold Zabeel has his seventh start for us since arriving from the Mark Johnson yard in the spring. Gold Zabeel ran a cracker on stable debut at Carlisle back in July when finishing strongly over six furlongs, but due to his aversion with the stalls he has struggled over sprint distances in subsequent races. At Newcastle last time he once again dwelt at the start, but the step up to a mile for the first time gave him time to catch up, and at the end of the race he was staying on for a two lengths beating into fifth place. The extra distance again on Saturday will help, but his draw in nine makes life a little more difficult, with regular rider Andrew Breslin retaining the ride.
We are also represented by Sparkle In His Eye who goes at 5.0.pm, in a 0-60 handicap also over the extended mile, he will come out of stall eight. Sparkle In His Eye had winning form in France before joining us, and his mark of 58 is good based on that French form. He made his stable debut for us back in May over this course and distance when running well to finish fourth, just three and a half lengths off the winner, from a 5lb higher mark than now. At Newcastle three weeks later he failed to get competitive, but was then off with a shoulder injury until returning at Wolverhampton seven weeks ago, where once again he made no show. Billy Garritty who rode him on his first two starts for us is back in the saddle.
