We are doubly represented at Pontefract on Monday evening, where the going at the time of writing is good to firm, good in places.
Both of our runners will contest the 0-60 'Tony Bethell Memorial Handicap,' over two miles and one furlong, at 8.0.pm. Buto who was a winner over hurdles for us at Hexham in May of last year, has his first run on the flat since arriving from Ireland in 2022. Buto who is a maiden in eight starts on the level is yet to hit form over hurdles this season, and receives a basement mark of just 45 for this rare flat start, with Mark Winn, who is having his first ride for the yard, able to claim 3lb.
Storm Spirit who is our other representative in the race, and will be ridden by Aiden Brookes, takes a significant step up in trip, having raced over five furlongs shorter last time at this track, when finishing seventh, for which she has been eased 3lb. Storm Spirit has some good placed form in bumpers, and we will see if this extreme trip can bring about further improvement.
