TWO RUNNERS ON MONDAY.

We send two to Thirsk on Monday, where the going at the time of writing is soft, good to soft in places.

Burnage Boy ran really well at Newcastle last time, when keeping on for a very respectable third, but he can't always be relied upon to run to that level, hence him being a 40 raced maiden under both codes. He has form on a softer surface so the going should not be a problem, though he has been unlucky with the draw, having to come out of stall 16. The race is a 0-52 Apprentice handicap over 12 furlongs, where he will be partnered by Aiden Brookes.

Witchford has her third start in the seven furlongs two year old's novices stakes at 2.50.pm, where she will be ridden by Billy Garritty for the first time. Witchford made an encouraging debut at Pontefract in August when finishing seventh, before rearing up in the stalls at Chester last time, but probably still bettering the Pontefract run to finish fourth. This is another tough looking assignment, and she will be eligible for a first handicap mark after this.
