There are only 31 horses declared for Sedgefield on Thursday for their seven races, and it is difficult to understand why, with the going being no worse than soft.
Our 12 year old gelding Perfect Man runs over the marathon three miles and three furlongs at 4.0.pm, in the 0-105 handicap hurdle, where he will once again be partnered by Conor O'Farrell, from a career low mark of 88. Perfect Man in his heyday could boast a BHA mark of 135, but he is better judged nowadays on his latest run at Wetherby 17 days ago, when he was beaten eight and three quarter lengths off a mark of 90. Perfect Man is proven over this kind of trip, and is also a winner on soft ground.
Trac continues to progress at a rate the handicapper can't keep up with, and a 7lb rise for being pushed out to win at this course a month ago looks fair. Trac is the winner of four of his last seven starts, including winning three times over fences, starting from a mark of 78 back in December, and he is another who will find conditions that suit. Trac goes to post for the 0-105 handicap chase at 4.35.pm, over two miles and three furlongs, with Conor O'Farrell retaining the ride.
