The horses we love to follow are only with us for a very short while, so always make the most of them while you can.
QUOTELINE DIRECT.
Quoteline Direct will have his 91st and final race on Friday at Thirsk, in the special charity race, which is raising funds for the injured jockey fund in aid of Graham Lee, who rode for us on many occasions, including riding Quoteline Direct seven times. The race on Friday is for stable staff, and they will be 'led up' by professional jockeys, Quoteline Direct will be ridden by Ellie Errington, who has been with us for four years.
As far as longevity goes Quoteline Direct is right at the top of the tree, having raced continuously over 10 seasons. He memorably won first time out as a two year old on July 17th, 2015, at 22/1, and getting his highest BHA rating in the process of 80. His next win came in unusual circumstances at Thirsk on July 29th, 2016, where after finishing second, he was later promoted to first, after the winner was disqualified for providing a positive sample. Quotline Direct was at his best during the summer of 2018 when winning twice within eight days back at Pontefract, which saw his mark soar from 61 to 75 by the time he finished a close up fourth at Carlisle in August. He had just five runs over hurdles, and took to them very well, finishing second at Catterick on his debut, and earning a whopping rating of 118. Quoteline Direct had an excellent record on the all weather, running 26 times and finishing in the first three on 13 occasions. In his later years he became somewhat of a Wolverhampton specialist, winning or placing there 11 times. Quoteline Direct has now earned a long happy and healthy retirement.
SPARKLE IN HIS EYE.
Sparkle In His Eye retires after a 41 race career, which saw him win an incredible seven races. He started out with William Haggas in Newmarket, winning twice, before moving to France, where he raced on seven occasions for four different stables. He arrived at our yard in the spring of 2021 after being gelded, and after taking a while to re-acclimatise, he won twice within a fortnight at Kempton and Wolverhampton in January and February of 2022. He was a winner again at Wolverhampton in March 2022, and also at Musselburgh in June. His final win came at Musselburgh in August 2023, which was followed by a solid third at that track later in the month. He was then given a break, but since the turn of the year on his return, he has not shown his old zest, and at eight years old he will now be retired. Sparkle In His Eye has now earned a long happy and healthy retirement.
MAC SUIBHNE.
Mac Suibhne is a nine year old gelding, who was last seen at Hexham in June of last year when winning over fences. He has since been out through injury, and it has been decided that he wont be risked by being brought back into training, and therefore will be retired. Mac Suibhne is lightly raced for his age, having just 18 starts under rules, and a further four in point to points, his record of three wins under rules is very respectable. Prior to joining us in in June 2022, he had done all of his racing in Ireland, in points, bumpers, and hurdles, finishing runner up on two occasions. He won three of his 10 starts for us, including a very memorable day on his stable debut over hurdles at Market Rasen on July 3rd, 2022. Another big day was when he won a match on his chase debut by 14 lengths at Wetherby in October of that year, which of course is every owners dream. Mac Suibhne has now earned a long happy and healthy retirement.
