We have four runners at Market Rasen on Sunday, of which three of them are all having their first run for the yard, on what is currently described as good ground, and they are watering.
Unexpected Ask is first up at 2.35.pm, in the maiden hurdle over the extended two miles and four furlongs, with Brian Hughes taking the ride. Unexpected Ask is a stoutly bred unraced six year old out of an unraced Westerner Dam. His sire is the dual Group 1 winner Ask, who was unraced at two, but went on to stay two miles on the flat as a six year old.
We are doubly represented at 3.10.pm, in the 0-110 handicap hurdle, over the extended two miles. Nottodaybobo who was last seen racing in Ireland for Gordon Elliott in September 2023, makes his yard debut for us from a mark of 105, with our stable conditional jockey Josh Thompson able to claim his 7lb allowance. Nottodaybobo is the winner of one of his 10 starts to date, and if retaining his ability after 648 days off the track he will be winning in due course. He of course is entitled to need this first run back.
Piecederesistance who is our other representative in the race was a well above average performer on the flat in his younger days, boasting a best BHA mark of 88. Now as a seven year old his attentions recently have turned to hurdles, and at Fakenham last time he ran his best race yet over obstacles when finishing second. Although there was only four in the race, the winner has gone on to finish second and win again, and the third horse had won it's previous start by 16 lengths. Brian Hughes who was on last time retains the ride.
Minella Dreams makes his racecourse debut in the bumper over the extended two miles in the finale at 5.30.pm, where Brian Hughes has been booked to ride. Minella Dreams is the first produce of his Dam to see the racecourse. The Dam was a well above average performer who came in to her own over fences eventually winning on four occasions in Ireland, and receiving a best rating of 116. Minella Dreams is by the top National Hunt stallion Getaway.
