The going at Pontefract for Friday at the time of writing is described as good to firm, good in places, but the recent heavy rain could yet see a change to that forecast.
Storm Spirit has shown good form in each of her runs in all weather bumpers, when placing on both occasion. She has since pursued a flat campaign, racing in three hot maidens or novices, which has seen her receive an opening mark of 57. Storm Spirit makes her handicap debut at 7.15.pm, in the 0-70 handicap, over 12 furlongs, with Billy Garritty retaining the ride.
We will be doubly represented at 8.15.pm, in the 0-70 maiden handicap, over 10 furlongs. Fiftyshadesaresdev has run well on both his starts since returning from a nine months break, and showed at Pontefract last time out that he definitely stays this trip. Both those runs were on soft ground, but he is equally at home on a sounder surface. He will once again be partnered by Billy Garritty.
Our other representative in the race is the four year old filly Lillistar, who after three down the field runs over hurdles, showed that she appreciated a return to the flat, when running with great promise at Southwell last time. Her best piece of form was for her previous yard at Leicester last season, when finishing second from a 4lb higher mark than now. Lillistar will have the services of Aiden Brookes in the saddle.
