STELLARMASTERPIECE DECLARED ON LADIES DAY.

enquiries0700

It's ladies day at Ripon on Thursday, where the going is currently described as soft.

Stellarmasterpiece has been declared for the Ripon Ladies Day 0-60 Handicap for Lady Amateur Riders, in the first race at 1.35.pm, over one mile and four furlongs. In the past the race was run in the middle of the card as the centrepiece, but for some reason it has been brought forward to the opening race for the last two seasons, which is a shame as the race is always a highlight, and deserves far better billing.

Stellarmasterpiece had raced 11 times in her native Poland, all at the Sluzewiec track, before arriving at the yard earlier on this year. Her first run for the yard was a very promising third at Catterick on soft in April, when only going down by two and a half lengths, which she duly backed up on good ground over the same course and distance in May, when winning by a neck. The handicapper had nothing to go on with her Polish form, so to give her an opening mark of 55 was a very good guess. With the top Amateur Lady jockey Becky Smith on board for the first time, the 2lb rise will not be a problem.
