SOME RAIN WOULD HELP FRANKELIO.

It's a busy Wednesday with two runners going up to Musselburgh where the ground is currently good to firm, good in places, and we also send three to Thirsk where it is good, good to firm in places at the time of writing.

The well related two year old Titch Smith goes to post for the 1.50.pm at Thirsk for a six furlongs novices stakes for two year old's, where he will once again be partnered by Aiden Brookes. Titch Smith made his racecourse debut at Wetherby 22 days ago where after he was awkward at the start, he raced in rear looking very green, this race will provide more much needed experience.

Frankelio returned to somewhere near his best when keeping on in to third at Wetherby 22 days ago over a mile. He runs in the 3.25.pm, in a 0-70 handicap over seven furlongs with Graham Lee retaining the ride. Frankelio is a horse who appreciates give in the ground, especially over seven furlongs which would be a bare minimum for him, he has drawn well in stall seven.

Resdev Thunder has his fifth start, and second in handicap company at 5.03.pm, in a 0-65 handicap over 14 furlongs, where he will be partnered by Joanna Mason for the first time. Resdev Way has to date only beaten one rival in his four starts, and fared no better on his handicap debut 13 days ago, it is to be seen if this step up in trip will help.

Up at Musselburgh Uccello returns to the course and distance where he ran his best race to date, when finishing third back in May. Uccello showed that he was still running well when finishing fourth at Hamilton last time over a trip that might have just been a shade too far. Uccello has nothing in hand from his handicap mark, but if he continues to run consistently then a race may well come his way. He runs at 2.40.pm, in a 0-55 handicap over the extended 12 furlongs, with his regular jockey Andrew Elliott in the saddle.

We also send Irv to Musselburgh where he will contest the 3.50.pm, over nine furlongs, with Ben Curtis riding him for the first time. Irv came within a short head of winning for the first time in his last 25 starts last time, showing that the will to win is still there. He has been raised 1lb for that run, but remains 22lb below his second win at York as a three year old, back in July 2019.
