SHIGHNESS TO MAKE RACECOURSE DEBUT.

Newcastle racecourse stage another jumpers bumpers cards on Wednesday, giving national hunt horses who may have missed an engagement because of the adverse weather a chance to have a run.

We have one runner in the shape of Shighness, who will be seeing a racecourse for the first time, as will her 12 rivals. The race is over the standard two miles, and as she is four years old, and a filly, she receives all the weight allowances.

Shighness has a lot of speed in her pedigree, being by the Group 2 winning miler Passing Glance, and her grand dam was a dual seven furlong winner for Sir Michael Stoute. Her dam only raced on three occasions, but showed ability each time, and on her final start was a staying on second in a bumper at Market Rasen. The race is at 11.45.am, and she will be partnered by Billy Garritty on his return to action.
