We have declared four for Market Rasen on Sunday where the going looks set to ride soft.
Belle Na Bann is first up at 2.05.pm, in a 0-100 handicap hurdle over the extended two miles and two furlongs, where Becky Smith retains the ride. Belle Na Bann has run consistently to a similar level on all of her three starts since arriving at the yard, and a similar run again will see her in the mix. She doesn't appear to have much in hand at the weights, but her consistency is a plus, she probably wouldn't want the ground to get too deep.
Shighness has always had the look of a mare who will continue to improve as she grows in to her frame, so the fact she has already won four of her 11 starts to date is very encouraging. She took another step forward at Market Rasen last time when winning by four lengths, and in what looks a very similar type of event again this time, the 5lb penalty looks within her compass. The race is a 0-120 handicap hurdle over two miles and seven furlongs, with the champion jockey Brian Hughes retaining the ride.
Brickadank completes the set under rules when he turns his hand to fences at 3.50.pm, in a 0-100 novices handicap chase, where he will be re-united by Becky Smith, who has been on board on many previous occasions. Brickadank has run in a bumper, five flat races, and 22 hurdles races to date, but is still looking for his first success. He will make his chase debut from an all time low mark of 70.
Mister Bells is our final runner at 4.25,pm, when he contests a 0-105 handicap chase over two miles and five furlongs, with Emma Smith-Chaston taking the ride. Mister Bells has been knocking at the door in all four starts for us since arriving from Ireland, without being able to get fully involved at the business end. The handicapper continues to relent, with an 8lb drop in the weights for those four runs. He wore cheek pieces when winning for his previous connections, and now wears them for the first time since joining us.
