SHIGHNESS.

SHIGHNESS. 04 April 2017. Passing Glace-Sharwakom. Owner-Keep The Faith Partnership.

Shighness is by Passing Glance who is a consistent producer of high class flat and National Hunt Horse, his best performance was probably when winning the Group 3 Diomed Stakes at Epsom in 2004. Shighness' dam ran on only three occasions back in 2012, all in bumper company, putting up her best performance on her final start when finishing a two and three quarters lengths second at Market Rasen, before prematurely retiring from racing.

Shighness has raced on four occasions to date, using up her full quota of bumper runs. She made her debut on the all weather at Newcastle in January 2021, and although only finishing ninth, she was only nine and three quarter lengths off the winner. On her next start in soft going at Wetherby in February she was sent off at only 4/1, but struggled to get involved, and could only come home a well beaten fifth. She was sent to Southwell in March, with Becky Smith taking over in the saddle, and although fairing a little better, she was still beaten 16 lengths into sixth place.

Shighness was next sent on her summer holidays and didn't return until November at Wetherby. Shighness is a big horse, and the summer break did her well, as she had now grown more into her large frame. Going off at 22/1 she showed resolution when rallying inside the final furlong to win by half a length under Billy Garritty. TO BE CONTINUED.
