SCHIEHALLION MUNRO TO STEP UP IN TRIP.

We have three runners on Monday, when we send two to Kelso, and one to Southwell. The ground is drying out, so much so that at Kelso they have already taken the precaution to water, where the predicted going is good.

The ground will definitely suit Onlyfoolsownhorses who runs in the extended 0-100 two miles and four furlongs handicap hurdle at 3.40.pm, with Conor O'Farrell riding him for the first time. Onlyfoolsownhorses enjoyed a golden period, knocking up a hat trick between May, to June 2017, and probably achieving even more when finishing second in August of that year, and receiving an official mark of 115. After two long breaks through injury, and in only seven racecourse appearances since, his mark has now dropped down to 100.

Schiehallion Munro is a quality performer, who has only ever finished out of the first three twice in 14 runs. He has been runner up on both of his latest starts, appearing to run a very strange race last time out at Musselburgh on New Years Day. After being prominent in the early stages he quickly became outpaced, and appeared to be going nowhere, until staying on well again from two out, the probable explanation is that Schiehallion Munro didn't enjoy the sharp nature of the track at Musselburgh. This race represents a drop in class, with the only question mark being the step up in trip to the extended two miles and six furlongs for the first time. The race is at 4.10.pm, with Henry Brooke riding him for the first time.

Over at Southwell the going is good to soft at the time of writing, which will suit Ex S'Elance, provided it doesn't dry out anymore. Ex S'Elance runs in the extended 0-110 two miles and four furlongs handicap hurdle at 3.03.pm, with Alain Cawley booked to ride.He was a winner at Catterick back in February from a 5lb lower mark, but found the two miles at Wetherby on his last start to be on the short side for him. This race does represent a step up in grade from that win at Catterick.
