QUOTELINE DIRECT DECLARED FOR PONTEFRACT.

We have one runner at Pontefract, on what is their ladies day on Wednesday, when Quoteline Direct contests the 0-65 handicap for Gentlemen Amateur riders in the opening race at 2.0.pm, where Mr. Patrick Millman has been booked to ride.

Quoteline Direct had a rare run over hurdles last time out at Cartmel where although perhaps finding the opposition too tough, was probably also not suited by the track, which does not play to the strengths of a hold up horse. You would have to say that his last start prior to that which was on the flat at Nottingham was disappointing, although that race may have not been run to suit. He was third at Ripon back in June from a 3lb higher mark than now, and after looking all over the winner a furlong out, he found very little off the bridle, this step back in trip of two furlongs will play to his strengths. The ground at Pontefract is drying out, and at the time of writing it is good, which would not be a problem.
