Piecederesistance signified that a win was just around the corner when finishing an excellent second over this same course and distance five weeks ago, and he duly delivered at Pontefract on Sunday afternoon when keeping on well for a half length win under Billy Garritty.

After finishing second last time the talk was of taking in one the bigger races at York, but connections took the sensible option and have been duly rewarded. Piecederesistance whose mark is now closing in on 90 will be eligible for many of the bigger handicaps over the next few weeks, and as now earned his right to run in one of them.

Congratulations to the connections, Ryder And Alex Sugden.
