OUR ATTENTIONS TURN TO MUSSELBURGH ON MONDAY.

We send two up to Musselburgh on Monday afternoon when both Carnival Zain, and Walkonby will contest the 5.20.pm, a 0-70 handicap over 10 yards short of one mile and one furlong, where the going at the time of writing is good to soft, soft in places.

Carnival Zain will be suited by a soft surface having been placed on it three times when trained in France in 2019, and 2020, he also ran well on it on his latest start at Chester 31 days ago. That race was over their very sharp extended seven furlongs, and this step up in trip is a definite plus. This will be his fifth start for us, after making an excellent stable debut at York back in July when finishing sixth, he disappointed twice in August, at Haydock, and then at Ripon, which has seen his mark drop by 9lb to 68. Billy Garritty who has ridden him three times is back in the saddle.

We also run the four year old filly Walkonby in the same race, she will also enjoy the soft underfoot conditions, having already won twice on a surface with give in it. Walkonby has had a short break since she was last seen at Hamilton in July, on what was her sixth start for us since arriving from the Mick Channon yard. That day she was beaten 11 lengths in to fifth place, but that was probably her best run for us to date. She wore cheek pieces then, and they have been retained. Her mark has now dropped to 60, which is 11lb below her last wining mark, with our stable apprentice Aiden Brookes being able to take off a further 7lb, over a trip which would be a bare minimum for her.
