Knocknamona won with the minimum of fuss at Newcastle on Saturday afternoon under his optimum conditions. He arrived at Oakwood Stables back in the autumn of 2016, having run in six point to points without winning for his previous connections in Ireland. Over the course of his time with us we have learnt that the softer the ground the better his chance, he is also best suited by a fast run two and a half miles, and as when he was last successful in December 2020 at Bangor, it was off this same mark as now of 85, with his regular jockey Alain Cawley in the saddle.
Knocknamona has been a tremendous servant to the yard having now won six chases and two hurdle races, and judging from this performance win number nine might just be around the corner.
