Unfortunately we couldn't run either of our representatives at Market Rasen on Monday, as the meeting succumbed to the elements. The chances of racing taking place on Tuesday at Kelso doesn't look too promising at the time of writing, with the ground being frozen in places, but frost covers are being deployed, with an inspection planned for 12.0.pm on Monday. If we get the go ahead then we send two to the track, where the going will be heavy.
Marvellous Joe is set to make his chase debut in the 0-105 novices' handicap chase at 1.0.pm, over an extended two miles and five furlongs.Marvellous Joe has raced on five occasions to date, making no impression in a bumper, and in four attempts in novice hurdles. We pin our hopes on him taking to fences, in what will be his first realistic chance to get competitive, from a opening mark of 80, with Joe Colliver who has ridden him on all occasions to date, retaining the ride.
Kelso have put on some tremendous prize money for this meeting, and it gives our classy mare Desaray Girl a chance to win the £18,000 guaranteed race at 2.30.pm, it's an open handicap, over an extended two miles and four furlongs, with the top rated entry being 141. Desaray Girl's mark has now dropped to 123, and she is looking very well handicapped, if able to find her best form of last season. She ran in a Listed Mares race at Sandown 24 days ago, finishing a respectable fourth, which was her first run since minor wind surgery, she has the ground and trip in her favour, and will once again be partnered by Joe Colliver.
