JUST THE 10 RUNNERS ON FRIDAY.

Yes you read that correctly, we have a massive 10 runners on Friday, with nine running over the jumps at Cartmel, and one running on the flat at Hamilton in the evening.

First up at 12.15.pm at Cartmel is the juvenile hurdle, where we have two representatives, Mick will once again be partnered by William Shanahan, the partnership finished third at Market Rasen 11 days ago, with Mick giving the impression that he needed a stiffer test of stamina, that experience will have done him the world of good, and hopefully he can finish in the first three again. Also running is Lairig Ghru,he has shown ability in all of his three runs as a two year old, last Autumn, which were all over six furlongs, and his breeding doesn't scream two miles, Jonjo O'Neil Jr has his first ride for the stable.

Thirty five minutes later at 12.50.pm Nomountainhienough makes his seasonal debut, he raced twice in bumpers last Summer for another yard, showing some ability, and since joining us, has run twice, making no show in two novice hurdles, he will be eligible for a handicap mark after this, Colm McCormack will take the ride.

Ciarabella is a lightly raced seven year old mare, who has run in all of the jumping disciplines for other yards, making no show to date. She will make her stable debut in the novices handicap chase at 1.25.pm, with stable jockey Alain Cawley taking the mount. This should go someway to telling us what ability she has, starting from a handicap mark of just 78.

Two of our much loved, and admired horses take each other on in the 2.00.pm, when course specialist Alderbrook Lad, now a sprightly 14 year old, takes on Roxyfet, who will be racing for the 103rd time. Alderbrook Lad is best around this track when able to compete at two miles, and five furlongs, but on Friday he will have to race over just two miles, so may find it difficult to get an uncontested lead.He put in some of his usual spectacular leaps when finishing forth at this track 12 days ago,Emma Smith-Chaston retains the ride. Roxyfet makes his seasonal debut, with Aiden Macdonald becoming the 27th different jockey to ride him. he normally needs a race to put him straight, and there could well be an appointment with Sedgefield racecourse later on this month.

We have two runners in the two miles, and one furlong handicap hurdle at 3.45.pm. Before joining us Burdigala had a career in France on the flat, and over jumps, for five different trainers, with his win coming when he won a chase at Nancy back in 2018.He made his debut for us at Wetherby last December, and ran again at Newcastle in March, on both occasions finishing down the field, Alian Cawley who rode both times, retains the ride.Percy B Shelley who will be ridden by Becky Smith started his racing career with John Gosdon, and has taken in the Noel Meade yard along the way.He has been bought as a dual purpose horse, and has also raced twice for us to date, back in January, both will benefit for their seasonal debuts.

Canford Thompson ran a cracker at Cartmel 12 days ago when finishing second over two miles and one furlong, from the same mark of 102, and with Becky Smith once again on board, he will contest the 4.20.pm.He will enter unknown territory as he has never raced as far as two miles, and six furlongs before, but he does stay 12 furlongs on the flat, so there is every chance he will see out the trip.

Our final runner of the day is the five year old mare Convivial in the 7.00.pm at Hamilton. She was a good forth at Thirsk in June, and bettered that at Hamilton last time when finishing second, the extra two furlongs, and the softest ground she has encountered to date should be ok, from a 2lb rise in the weights, Graham Lee is once again in the saddle.
