IT'S LADIES DERBY DAY AT RIPON.

If it's Gold Cup day at Royal Ascot, then it has to be the Ladies Derby for female amateur jockeys at Ripon. The race holds great memories for us, as back in 2016 our much missed grey Pertuis won the race under Catherine Walton at the age of 10.

On Thursday afternoon at 4.35.pm, we will be represented in the 2021 version of the race by the nine year old Quoteline Direct, who will have the benefit of the assistance of Becky Smith in the saddle, who finished runner up at York last Saturday in the prestigious Queens Mother Cup, another race for female amateur jockeys.

Over the course of last winter Quoteline Direct has become somewhat of a Wolverhampton specialist, visiting on five occasions, and finishing either second or third in four of those races. Any of those placed efforts would be good enough to see him involved in the finish here, but his last three runs away from Dunstall Park have been below par.He does stay 12 furlongs, and acts on good to firm ground, and he can now race off an all time low mark of 51.
