IRV HAS BEEN LUCKIER WITH THE DRAW THIS TIME.

Ian Ender

We have one runner on Tuesday evening when our six year old gelding Irv goes to post for the finale at Thirsk, the 8.27.pm, a 0-70 handicap over a mile, with Graham Lee who has ridden him on eight previous occasions returning to the saddle. The going at Thirsk at the time of writing is good, good to firm in places.

Irv's mark is now down to a career low of 56, and the heady days of him winning twice at York as a three year old seem a long time ago. On his seasonal debut at Thirsk in April he finished an encouraging fifth to his stable mate Carnival Zain, and his latest run also at Thirsk can be forgiven to a point as he had the worst of the draw in stall 16, but only got beat by four and a half lengths. The draw has been kinder this time as he will come out of stall seven. They say you can become guilty of following a horse over a cliff, but once again Irv is worth one more chance.
