We send one runner down to Warwick on Wednesday evening when the eight year old grey mare Ilaya goes to post for the 7.05.pm, a 0-110 mares' handicap hurdle over two miles, with Becky Smith who won on her at Newcastle in December 2019 back in the saddle. The going is currently good, and although this will be the fastest surface she has run on, it shouldn't present a problem.
Ilaya continues to work well at home, but it appears that when she is asked to make a challenge in the heat of a race, she doesn't fancy it and downs tools. The only advantage to that is that she continues to fall in the weights, having once been as high as 125, she can now race off 94, so we live in hope.
