ICONIC HERO. 12 June 2013. Oscar-Classy Society. Owner-The Rat Pack Racing Club.

Iconic Hero has had 10 runs under rules to date, racing six times over hurdles, and four times over fences, he has placed second on two occasions. His dam Classy Society only raced once, back in 2004, in a Punchestown bumper, finishing sixth of the 30 runners. She has produced four offspring that have raced, including his 120 Racing Post rated full brother, Thegreendalerocket.

Iconic Hero started his racing career in Irish Point to Points, in the care of the Denis Ahern yard, pulling up at Inch on his debut, in a four year old maiden in April 2017.In total he would race in a further eight points through until March 2019, with his best finishing position being third, on two occasions, including on his last run.

After that race he was sold to race out of the Dan Skelton yard, making his debut under rules at Bangor in May 2019, in a maiden hurdle, and finishing fifth of the 10 runners, beaten by 10 lengths. He raced again at Uttoxeter in June, finishing second, and running to a similar mark, and again back at Uttoxeter in October, this time on soft ground, recorded his third consecutive Racing Post rating of 99.

It was decided he needed minor wind surgery, but was off the track for only 50 days, returning to make his handicap debut from a mark of 105, where he weakened from three out, possibly not seeing out the two miles and five furlongs. He disappointed again, this time at Southwell when next seen in July 2020, over two and a half miles, finishing forth, beaten by 16 lengths, but was better on his chase debut 19 days later when dropped back to two miles and one furlong, he finished third, beaten five and a quarter lengths. He backed that run up when second at Fontwell in August, but just seven days later at Bangor he was forth, beaten 32 lengths, with the race perhaps coming too soon. His last race before joining us was back over hurdles at Uttoxeter on September 9th, when finishing down the field.

Iconic Hero made his debut for us at Sedgefield over fences on Thursday, he was well in touch when falling at the 11th fence.
