HALPHA SOLEIL LOOKING FOR FIRST CHASE WIN.

enquiries0700

We send three on the short trip to Catterick on Friday, where the going is currently described as soft.

Halpha Soleil is the winner of two National Hunt flat races in France, and won twice over hurdles for us in a successful season last term. His attentions were turned to fences on his seasonal debut in December, when coming off an eight months break, he was only beaten by 14 and a half lengths. He built on that at Newcastle last time when going down by seven lengths, and with that experience under his belt, he should be even more competitive this time. Halpha Soleil runs at 1.35.pm, in the 0-105 handicap chase, over two miles and three furlongs, with Brian Hughes in the saddle for the first time.

Beat The Edge doesn't like being in front too soon, as he thinks that when he is in the lead he has done enough, and says after you. Fortunately on his latest start he met a rival with the same outlook on life, and won for the second time in his career. This will be his first try for us over three miles and one furlong, and the chances are he will be just as effective. He arrived at the yard with a very good looking handicap mark, and now is only 4lb higher, which is still 11lb lower than his peak rating. Beat The Edge runs at 3.05.pm, in the Class 5 handicap chase, with Emma Smith-Chaston retaining the ride.

Kazar Forez made his yard and British debut at Newcastle 15 days ago when finishing ninth of the 11 runners, in a race where he was entitled to need the run, on his first start since finishing second at Auteuil back in June of last year. It is a handicappers nightmare to know where to rate an ex French runner having his first start abroad, and Kazar Forez has already been dropped 5lb for that initial run, giving him the opportunity to compete in 0-100 company. Kazar Forez goes to post for the 0-100 handicap hurdle at 4.05.pm, over the extended one mile and seven furlongs, with Emma Smith-Chaston once again on board.
