Geryville won his second race for us since arriving from France in the autumn of last year at Newcastle on Tuesday afternoon, under his regular rider Alain Cawley.
Geryville was impressive when winning on stable debut at Wetherby last October, and was probably unlucky not to follow up at the same track in December where he finished second, after not being fluent at the second last. He has also been second another twice since then, with the ground not being soft enough for him. This time different tactics were employed as he attempted to make all, which he definitely enjoyed. He was headed two out and looked beaten, but to his credit he rallied and stayed on to win by a neck. The runner up definitely idled on the run in, but it was Geryville's likeable attitude that should win him many more races, and we now also know he stays at least three miles.
