To my eye Fiftyshadesaresdev has always been crying out for a step up in trip, and at Doncaster on Thursday evening he will step up a full two extra furlongs, to run over 10 furlongs for the first time.

Fiftyshadesaresdev was a very consistent juvenile last year, and has taken that consistency in to his three year old season, where in three starts he has just lacked the pace over a shorter trip. Since he was last seen 32 days ago he has had minor wind surgery, as Joanna Mason who retains the ride said she heard him making a noise at Pontefract last time.

Fiftyshadesaresdev has got in to the habit of being sluggish leaving the stalls, so this longer trip will help, the opposition looks well up to scratch, but Fiftyshadesaresdev is yet to fully show us what he is capable of doing. The race is a 0-75 three year old handicap at
