We have two runners up at Newcastle, on the Tapeta surface, on Monday evening.
Dragons Will Rise steps up to 12 furlongs for only the second time in his career, when he goes to post for the 0-75 handicap at 4.30.pm, with his regular rider Aiden Brookes in the saddle. Dragons Will Rise was the winner of eight races between eight to 10 furlongs, before succumbing to injury, and since returning from 19 months off the track, he is yet to fully fire. He may need this trip nowadays, as his mark continues to tumble.
Sparkle In His Eye has also been a prolific winner, having entered the winners enclosure on seven occasions, of which five have been for the yard. Sparkle In His Eye comes in to the race with a similar profile to Dragons Will Rise, in that he is yet to find his best form this term, and his mark is also coming down. He runs at 6.30.pm, in the 0-62 handicap, over seven furlongs, with Aiden Brookes retaining the ride.
