DESARAY GIRL RETIRES FROM RACING TO BECOME A BROODMARE.

Ian Ender

Desaray Girl who ran her first 10 races between March 2019 to 2020 for the yard of Phil Kirby, before joining us for the remainder of her career, which took in a further 21 runs, has recently been retired, and she will begin her second career as a broodmare, with her first visit being to the 2015 Epsom Derby winner Golden Horn.

Desaray Girl has a bit of quality, and retires the winner of a Mares Listed Novice Hurdle in December 2019 at Haydock, which saw her receive her best BHA mark of 133. She would never reach those heights again following wind surgery, but she showed that her enthusiasm and guts for the job were still there when notching up a 28 day hat-trick over hurdles between February to March 2022, all in the hands of Emma Smith-Chaston, who in total rode her on 11 occasions.
