Desaray Girl duly followed up her win at Ayr a week ago from a 4lb lower mark, as the ratings suggested she should, with a neck success under a very strong ride from Emma Smith-Chaston, who was doubling up on the mare, on Tuesday afternoon at Market Rasen.

Since winning a Listed race at Haydock in December 2019, for which she received a mark of 133, life as been tough, and her mark had now dropped to an all time low of 95. Perhaps the heavy ground she has encountered on these last two starts has played a big part in her renaissance, but after having watched her have to fight for her success again this time, there is no doubt that all of her old enthusiasm has returned.
