DESARAY GIRL. 30 March 2015. Montmartre-Feria To Bitch. Owner-Resdev.
Desaray Girl is a French bred mare, out of an unraced Royal Charter mare, who has had four racecourse representatives, the other three raced in France, and Desaray Girl is already by far the best. Her sire Montmartre is a son of Montjeu, and is a good source of high class jumpers. She joined us having raced on only eight occasions, in three bumpers, and five hurdle races, of which she is a three times winner.
Desaray Girl made her racecourse debut as a four year old in March 2019, in a bumper on the turf at Newcastle, keeping on in an eye catching way to finish third to Crypto, a horse also making his racecourse debut, and trained by Micky. She next appeared at Cheltenham in April in a Class 2 mares bumper, but never got competitive. She was given a break until October when returning at Carlisle, but could only manage 12th, of the 15 runners, that race must have put her spot on, as a month later at Newcastle she made her hurdles debut in a mares only, where she took a keen hold, making all, and coming home unchallenged. To be fair the second horse that day was only rated 96, which probably explains why she was allowed to go off at 25/1 at Haydock in December for the two miles, and three furlongs mares Listed novice hurdle. This time she beat the 125 rated Rosie And Millie, earning a Racing Post Rating of 131, and a BHA rating of 133.She was next in action at Sedgefield in January 2020, when under a double penalty, admittedly against weak looking opposition, she was sent off at 1/8, and made all, winning on the bridle, and completing the hat-trick.
Desaray Girl was then highly tried in her next two races, at Warwick in February under a 5lb penalty, in a Grade 2 mares hurdle, she finished a disappointing forth of the six runners, beaten in excess of 30 lengths, even so she had gone in to the race with the highest rating. Her final start of the 2019-2020 season was in March at the Cheltenham Festival, in the Close Brothers Grade 1 mares hurdle, taking on the very best of her sex, she could never get competitive.
Desaray Girl joined us over the summer of last year, and made her stable debut at the Charlie Hall meeting at Wetherby at the end of October in the Bet 365 Mares Listed Hurdle. She was far too fresh in the race, and predictably weakened quickly from three out to finish last of the seven runners. Five weeks later she went to Ascot, to contest a Class 2 handicap hurdle, and although not as keen as she was at Wetherby, she still over raced, and came home in her own time to finish 10th, it was also decided that she needed minor wind surgery. She returned at Sandown on January 2nd, in the Listed Unibet Mares Hurdle, this time she settled a lot better, and appeared to see her race out, finishing a very respectable forth, beaten by 13 lengths. Her most recent start was in a jumpers bumper at Newcastle on February 8th, where she stayed on in to fourth, under her now regular partner Joe Colliver.
Desaray Girl possesses a good amount of ability, and remains lightly raced, and with an official current rating of 123, she is also a very well handicapped horse. TO BE CONTINUED.
