We had our second winner in five days, when the improving Coup De Coeur ran a new personal best, when winning for the first time over fences at Newcastle on Tuesday afternoon, adding to his two successes over hurdles last season.
Coup De Coeur hinted that he was in for another good year when finishing second at Wetherby in November on his seasonal debut, and under a typically well judged ride from Brian Hughes he came through to take up the running two out and stay on for a one and a quarter lengths success.
