COULD IT FINALLY BE THE TURN OF MILAJESS.

We have five runners at Sedgefield on Thursday, where the going is good, and they are watering to maintain.

Beat The Edge makes a quick return to the track, just three days after finishing third at Newcastle after looking all over the winner, and not for the first time. Beat The Edge finds very little in the heat of battle and therefore is the trickiest of rides. If he were to consent they wouldn't see which way he'd gone. Beat The Edge runs at 2.42.pm, in the 0-110 handicap chase, over two miles and five furlongs, with Emma Smith-Chaston back in the saddle.

Our 11 year old veteran Onenightintown will race over further than he has gone before, and from a career low mark, when contesting the 0-100 handicap chase at 3.52.pm, over three miles and two furlongs, with Alice Stevens who won on him in February 2024 taking the ride. It is now just over a year, and seven races since Onenightintown got competitive, but he has surprised us in the past on more than one occasion, and it would be nice to be surprised again.

Balkotic is another who is making a quick return to the track, just six days after finishing down the field at Wetherby. Balkotic who will be at home on the ground, was last competitive when finishing third at Cartmel in June of last year, and because of that he now finds himself very well handicapped, 7lb below that mark. Balkotic who needs to regain his old zest for the game runs at 4.27.pm, in the 0-105 handicap hurdle, over the marathon three miles and three furlongs, with his regular rider Emma Smith-Chaston once again taking the ride.

We will be doubly represented in the finale at 5.02.pm, in the 0-100 handicap hurdle, over the extended two miles. Ambassador returns from a near four months break, and has proved that he can go well fresh, when winning after five months off the track last season at Uttoxeter, a track he always reserves his best for, having won there on four occasions. Ambassador will be ridden by Alice Stevens, who rode him previously at Sedgefield on his penultimate start last November.

Our other representative in the race is Milajess, who will be ridden by Joshua Thompson, who has finished second on her in all of her last three starts. Milajess who remains a maiden over hurdles after 23 starts, has now finished second on five occasions, and in first time blinkers last time, which are retained here, just found an inform opponent too good, at Carlisle 25 days ago.
