CORNERSTONE LAD ON AN ATTRACTIVE MARK.

We have declared two for Haydock on Wednesday where the going is currently soft, which will be no problem for either of our runners.

Applaus who missed his last engagement at Sedgefield eight days ago when the snow came down, is now re-routed to Haydock, where he will take his chance at 3.35.pm, in a 0-120 handicap hurdle over the extended two miles and two furlongs, with Emma Smith-Chaston retaining the ride. Applaus is at the top of his form having won his last two starts, and although he is 4lb higher now, he still looks to be on a competitive mark.

Our Grade 1 winning hurdler Cornerstone Lad hasn't been quite so good over fences, but he has won, and been placed a further five times, from his 11 starts over the larger obstacles. His latest run at Wetherby can be ignored as he scoped dirty post race, for which the handicapper has dropped him 4lb to his lowest mark since December 2018 of 134. He goes to post for the 5.20,pm, a 0-135 handicap chase over two miles, with Conor O'Farrell retaining the ride.
